Tembisa man (53) gets 20 years for brother’s murder

The victim was assaulted and stabbed several times.

A 53-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of killing his own brother at Kgatlamping section.

Tembisa South SAPS Communication Officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela said the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court found Steven Kgotla guilty of the murder committed on July 31, 2016.

“It is alleged that the accused was with his girlfriend and his brother at their house. He gave his girlfriend R50 and left to attend a funeral service nearby,” Sekgobela said.

“The girlfriend went to buy two beers and gave one to the accused’s brother. An argument ensued which led to the brother beating the accused’s girlfriend. The accused was called and upon his arrival, he assaulted and stabbed his brother several times with a knife on his upper body.

“The brother was taken to the clinic, where he was certified dead on arrival,” said Sekgobela.
