WATCH: Youths flood Kempton Park streets on Youth Day

OVER one thousand young people from Hope Restoration Ministries, led by Pastor Siphiwe Christopher Mathebula, flooded the streets of Kempton Park marching against crime and corruption on Youth Day, June 16.

The ministries, based in Chloorkop, hosted the march themed “Born of an Incorruptible Seed” to deliver a memorandum of the concerns of the youth to Kempton Park SAPS outside of Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

The youngsters sang songs of praise with pride to emphasise their love for Christ as He saved them and protects them from scores of deviant activities other young people fall victim to.

OVER 1 000 young people marched the streets of Kempton Park against crime and corruption.

The crowd hosted what was probably the biggest Youth Day march in all of Kempton Park and needed serious EMPD escort to ascertain easy flow. Spectators eventually joined in while passing motorists hooted to show their support.

YOUTH highlight drug dealing and corruption as a concern that the police need to tackle in Kempton Park.

Mathebula, who handed over the memorandum, held nothing back when he highlighted that some criminal activities took place near the police station and some police officials were corrupt and allowed for criminal activity that corrupted the youth.

He added that the church was very much aware that there were good policemen and good policewomen who took pride in what they did and that the young people gathered to ask those officers for protection so that crime and corruption could be eliminated in Kempton Park.

Mathebula encouraged the crowd to allow the police to enforce the law and not take the law into their own hands.
