The Ivory Park SAPS would like to warn the public to be careful about two men purporting to be prophets while their sole aim is to rob unsuspecting victims.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS communication officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane, an Ebony Park woman is still reeling from shock and embarrassment after she received a call this past weekend from one of the two men she met the day before during what looked like a random and unplanned encounter.
“She was, without soliciting it, prophesied to by someone who identified himself as “Daniel”. According to the victim, the suspect’s prophecies were spot on; hence she fell for his tricks and agreed to meet him the following day for more revelations.
“Upon their meeting the woman was briefly prophesied to and then sent on a silly errand – she was given an empty cool drink can and instructed to come back with her urine, and that was the last she saw of the men. They drove off with her laptop and cellphone. The men were travelling in a green Volkswagen Golf with no registration numbers,” said Matimulane.
The suspects, Matimulane added, may call themselves anything and not necessarily “Daniel”.
Ivory Park police believe that the suspects are somehow familiar with certain personal aspects of the victims, maybe via third parties.
“The public is warned to guard against these crooked people and, instead of falling for these tricks, they should report them to the police. The victim described the driver of the car as dark in complexion, with a gold tooth and slender in size, while the ‘prophet Daniel’ is light in complexion and he likes to wear caps and has a big scar on his head. They like to operate in the Kaalfontein and Ebony Park areas, but they may move their operations elsewhere. The public is warned,” added Matimulane.
