Teen from Winnie Mandela Park cuffed for carrying illegal firearm

A nineteen-year-old man was put behind bars for possession of an illegal firearm.

A teenager was arrested for carrying an illegal firearm on June 12.

Captain Manyadzha Ralidzhivha said police were on patrol at Winnie Mandela Park and came across a group of men walking in the street.

“They stopped them in order to search them. One of them started to run away. Police gave chase. He was apprehended and he had a pistol with its number filed off in his possession. The magazine had two live rounds,” Ralidzhivha said.

“The 19-year-old man was arrested and detained at Tembisa police cells. He will be appearing before the magistrate’s court at Tembisa for possession of a firearm and live ammunition.”
