Alleged hijacker critically wounded at centre in Bedfordview

Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained several gunshot wounds

A man was left critically injured on Saturday afternoon after an apparent hijacking in a parking lot of a mall in the Bedfordview area.

Russel Meiring, spokesman of ER24, said around noon ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found a man, believed to be a suspect, lying in the parking lot surrounded by security members.

Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained several gunshot wounds and was in a critical condition.

The man was treated and provided with several advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was transported, under law enforcement supervision, to Tembisa Hospital for urgent care.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
