Five injured as Mercedes-Benz rear-ends Hyundai on Zuurfontein Road

The patients were stabilized on scene before being transported to hospital

FIVE people were transported to hospital after a Mercedes-Benz rear-ended a Hyundai i20 on Zuurfontein Road on Saturday night.

The accident occurred just before midnight at the corner of Zuurfontein and Modderfontein roads in Kempton Park West.

Details of how the crash happened are unclear but photos show the silver Hyundai was almost completely destroyed at the back after the white Mercedes crashed into it.

According to Ona Ndala of Gauteng 911, they received reports of a serious motor vehicle accident just before midnight.

“Upon arrival we found two vehicles were involved. Upon assessment we found five patients, from both vehicles, had been injured,” Ndala explained.

The patients were stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital by Dial-a-Med ambulance service and other services.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
