Children urged to join Ms Little Winter beauty pageant

This beauty pageant is specifically organized for a girl child in the community to unleash talent in modelling and, according to the event organizer, Zinnia Makhanya, any girl child from the Tembisa township will not be discriminated.

Children from 5 to 10 years old are invited to enter the Little Miss Winter Beauty Pageant at Barney’s Day Care in Umfuyaneni section.

This beauty pageant is specifically organised for a girl child in the community to unleash talent in modelling and according to the event organiser, Zinnia Makhanya, any girl child from Tembisa can enter.

“We want to use the beauty pageant to empower their minds and built strong women who will be able to face the challenges that women go through on a daily basis,” said Makhanya.

She added they want to give a girl child a platform to showcase their modelling talent and encourage them to believe in themselves and be open to their parents.

Makhanya said they are hoping to extend the beauty pageant to include girls from 11 to 16 years.

“On the final day of the event, we will be hosting young people who participate in poetry, drama and dance for entertainment. We want parents to realise that their children’s hobbies can become their future careers. We are hoping to produce a future Miss Tembisa from the pageants,” concluded Makhanya.

This first annual Miss Little Winter beauty pageant will be held at Bethel Secondary School, Temong Section on August 9, from 12 noon to 4 pm. For more information about the beauty pageant contact Nompumelelo Nqobeni at 078 628 5074 or Zinnia Makhanya at 061 781 1844.
