
A man was arrested for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicles at a workshop in Makhulong Section last week.
Capt Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the vehicle was stolen from Kanana Section in Rabie Ridge.
A 35-year-old man alleged that he parked his Toyota Hilux in his yard and when he was leaving for work on June, 19 he discovered his car had been stolen.
A case of theft of a motor vehicle was opened with the Rabie Ridge police.
“The owner of the Hilux went searching for his vehicle around Tembisa and found it parked at a house in Makhulong section. He contacted the police who arrested the workshop owner. He told police that the car was brought to him by two people he knew.
“The two men, aged 21 and 31, were traced and arrested for theft of a motor vehicle”.
“On June, 22 the Tembisa detectives went to the workshop with the 40-year-old suspect. While they were at the workshop conducting further investigations, they were approached by a woman who told them that she had seen her gold Toyota Tazz on the same premises. She pointed it out to police. When they checked the vehicle it was found that the vehicle was reported stolen at Tembisa South. On checking they found that the engine numbers were tampered with.
“The suspect was immediately informed that police were arresting him for possession of the Toyota Tazz that was reported stolen at Tembisa South police station. The vehicle was stolen while parked at Enhlanzeni section on June, 19.”
“The man was first arrested for possession of the Toyota Hilux and following further investigations at his house. he was also arrested for possession of the stolen Tazz,” said Ralidzhivha.
Ralidzhivha said the suspect will soon appear before the magistrate at Tembisa court to answer to two counts of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and for tampering with the engine numbers.
