UPDATE: VW employee in ‘good spirits’ following accident at dealership

The owners of the lift will give two independent reports as to what happened

The man who was injured at VW Princess Benoni is in good spirits, according to the dealership’s dealer principal, Ben Koch.

Koch on Thursday told Benoni City Times the 41-year-old man was talking and was not showing signs of discomfort.

He said the victim was airlifted to hospital on July 6 but was not seriously injured.

The exact circumstances of the incident are unknown, but Koch said the employee dove out of the way as a vehicle fell off a hydraulic lift.

“The owners of the lift will give two independent reports as to what happened,” said Koch.

He said the report would shed light on whether it was caused by a faulty lift or human error.
