‘We have arrived’, says EMPD to CBD hangouts

Metro clamps down on CBD business during weekend operation

BRAVING the cold various Ekurhuleni Metro Police units descended on the central business district (CBD) of Kempton Park on Saturday night.

Kobeli Mokheseng, the Metro police spokesperson, said the operation started at 6pm and lasted until midnight.

A driver under the influence of alcohol was arrested on Voortrekker Road, two packets of dagga were confiscated and six undocumented women were detained, Mokheseng said.

The EMPD also closed down a popular pub on Voortrekker Road which operated with a forged permit.
