Woman arrested in her flat for alleged drug dealing

During a crime operation, law enforcement members patrolled all the drugs hot spot areas in Kempton

KEMPTON’s war on drugs continued during a crime operation weekend where nine people, including two women, were arrested.

From Friday to Sunday, Kempton police officers were joined by the EMPD and members of private security companies in a crime prevention operation.

During this visible policing effort, law enforcement members patrolled all the drug hot spot areas in Kempton.

“The operation has resulted in the arrest of nine suspects for possession of drugs in various places,” Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton police spokesman, confirmed.

“On Friday at about 11am police arrested a 34-year-old woman, alleged to be dealing in drugs, at Blue Marlin flats.”

Then, just before 2am on Saturday, police pulled over a taxi on Monument Road and upon searching, found a 27-year-old man in possession of dagga.

“Later that morning at about 9am, the metro police arrested a 31-year-old man for dagga possession at the corner of Wolff Street and Voortrekker Road.”

Later that night, a man (40) was arrested on Egon Street for possession of drugs and another man (20) for possession of marijuana on Commissioner Street.

On Sunday just after midnight, police arrested a 27-year-old man on West Street after they found him in possession of drugs. According to Mtshali, the suspect had hidden the drugs inside a small packet stuffed into his socks.

“Then later at about 10.30am a woman in her late 30s was arrested on Long Street, also for drugs, and at 11.30pm two men were found in possession of drugs at Armada Court.”

On the same day at about 10.30 a female in her late 30s was arrested on Long street for drugs and at about 11.30pm two suspects were arrested at Armada Court.
