Speedy arrest of three robbers in Ivory Park
The Ivory Park SAPS communication officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane said the victim, who was asleep in a room together with her two daughters, was rudely awoken when the door was forcefully opened and suddenly there were three armed men in the room.

Members of the Ivory Park SAPS arrested three men in Winnie Mandela for a house robbery that took place last Tuesday in Extension 09, Ivory Park.
The Ivory Park SAPS communication officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane, said the victim, was sleeping in a room together with her two daughters and was woken up when the door was forcefully opened and suddenly there were three armed men in the room.
“She managed to identify them as she has hired them to build rooms for her and some other construction-related jobs at her home on more than one occasion. The three suspects, who were all armed, allegedly demanded money and cell phones. They took three cell phones belonging to the victims and some money. They also searched the wardrobe.
“As they were squabbling with the victim over money, a next-door neighbour heard a noise and screamed for help,” said Matimulane.
He added that the alleged robbers became frightened and fled the scene.
“They fired a shot as they were fleeing. No one was injured. After being briefed by the victims at the scene, the Ivory Park officers on duty made a swift follow-up and managed to arrest the suspects at their places of residence at the nearby Winnie Mandela.
“The three suspects, aged 30, 33 and 40, are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to answer to a charge of house robbery,” said Matimulane.
The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, complimented the members for their speedy arrest and willingness to follow up on information provided by the victim.
“The swiftness with which our members reacted and arrested the suspects deserves to be praised. It shows that with the right information at our disposal no criminal is beyond our reach,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.
