A 19-year old woman coming from a night out with her boyfriend was allegedly raped at gunpoint by two men in an open veld between Ivory Park’s Extension 14 and Duduza informal settlement.
According to Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Capt Bernard Matimulane, the boyfriend was shot in the buttock.
The incident happened in the early hours of August 6 as the couple was walking home.
“They were surprised by two armed men and, sensing the danger, the boyfriend attempted to run away, leaving his girlfriend at the mercy of the two attackers. He was shot in the buttock and fell to the ground.
“They left him lying there, leaving with the woman. She was forced, at gunpoint, to an open veld where the two men apparently took turns to rape her and, once they were done, she was instructed to leave. She went looking for her boyfriend, whom she found bleeding and he was taken to hospital for treatment,” said Matimulane.
A case of rape and attempted murder has been opened at Ivory Park SAPS and anyone with information is requested to contact the police on 08600 10111 or the Ivory Park SAPS on 011 990 9600.
