Armed men busted during operation

The three men aged between 24 and 41 find themselves with more charges than necessary after refusing to be search and resisiting arrest.

A JOINT operation between JMPD and Sebenza SAPS aimed at addressing drunken drivers, led to the arrest of three heavily armed men in Longmeadow.

Three men, aged between 24 and 41, find themselves facing more charges than necessary after refusing to be searched and resisting arrest on August 18 at 10.45pm in Longmeadow Boulevard.

Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Srg Sharon Tsotsotso said the suspects, who were in a green Nissan tow truck, were found in possession of firearms and ammunition. They will be charged for that and for resisting arrest.

The police also arrested 18 drunken drivers aged between 25 and 48 during the same roadblock.

“We as Sebenza SAPS would also like to warn residents to be alert when driving because criminals might follow them to their homes and attack them at their driveways,” said Tsotsosto.
