Methodist Church offers free health services in Mfuyaneng Section on Sunday
This year, specialists available include general surgeons, physicians, paediatricians, obstetricians and orthopaedic surgeons
Access to affordable and quality health services with different medical specialists on the same day under one roof is a challenge the Methodist Church has identified as part of its mission pillars.
In partnership with Ekurhuleni district health department the church has committed itself to organise a one-stop shop service in healthcare for its members and the community of Tembisa to receive education on prevention and early detection of different medical conditions, screening for different conditions including diabetes, hypertension and HIV; and clinical examination by both general practitioners and specialists.
Under the auspices of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, the Tembisa Circuit is hosting a wellness day on Sunday, October 8 focusing on providing medical services to the elderly, indigent and children of Tembisa. During the wellness day, the church is turned into a “clinic” providing primary health services to all.
In the past three years, the wellness day has on averaged provided a service to no less than 150 patients that go through basic screening, consult general practitioners and depending on their case even consult specialists. All this is done in a day cutting down on lead times for specialist referrals and without charging the recipients.
This year, specialists available include general surgeons, physicians, paediatricians, obstetricians and orthopaedic surgeons.
The health day will take place at the Methodist Church of Southern Africa (Mfuyaneng Section, Tembisa) from 8.30am.
