2 500 men march in CBD against corruption
Over 2500 men marched to the Kempton Park Police Station to hand over a memorandum to the station commander.
Members of the Men of Hope Movement took to the streets of Kempton Park in a peaceful march on Saturday.
The march, which saw over 2 500 members gathered, was aimed at expressing their frustrations towards corruption, unaccountable leaders and violence against women and children.
The march started at the Kempton Park Civic Centre and ended at the Kempton Park Police Station where a memorandum was handed over to the station commander.
“We, as men of this country, are deeply saddened by the events happening in our nation. Corruption has escalated to levels where it has become institutionalised,” said the founder of the movement, Rev Siphiwe Mathebula.
“This march is a plea to all men who are in leadership positions in South Africa to end this rot.
“As Men of Hope, we continue to pray for our land to be healed; there are more good men in the country than there are bad ones.
“We are hopeful that positive change will come.”
The march formed part of a men’s conference held at Hope Restoration campus, in Kempton Park, under the theme ‘Fearless’.
Men from KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape and other parts of the country attended the three-day conference.
