Kempton Park SAPS promotes child safety during Child Protection Week
Kempton Park SAPS Social Crime Prevention and other stakeholders visited Rethabile Community Creche at Max Squatter camp as part of as part of the Child Protection week initiatives.
Kempton Park SAPS Social Crime Prevention, together with POWA and the Time to Care Foundation, visited Rethabile Community Crèche in Max Squatter Camp on June 4 as part of Child Protection Week and Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) awareness initiatives.
The visit aimed to educate children about different forms of child abuse, their rights and responsibilities, and personal safety.
According to Kempton Park SAPS Social Crime Prevention Coordinator Sergeant Constance Ramawela, the children were encouraged not to talk to strangers, go anywhere with them or accept gifts from people they do not know.

“Safety tips were given to the children. The principal and children were advised to report any form of child abuse and were informed about where such matters can be reported.
“The Time to Care Foundation also donated gift packages and stationery to the children as part of giving back to the community,” said Ramawela.
She added that the crèche principal welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for the support provided by the various stakeholders.
In addition to the educational programme, approximately 50 GBVF awareness pamphlets were distributed to residents in the Max Squatter Camp community.
