Pageant crowns its first queens
"This was our first pageant and we managed to pull through despite all the setbacks."
The inaugural Miss Ivory Park Refined and Miss Teen Ivory Park pageants were hosted on November 18.
“This was our first pageant and we managed to pull through despite all the setbacks,” said Genolia Madonsela, the founder of Miss Ivory Park Refined.
The Miss Ivory Park Refined title was won by Beverley Lerato Madia from Mayibuye. First princess was Christina Booysen from Kgatlampeng and second princess was Sanele Shezi from Ivory Park.
Miss Teen Ivory Park Refined was won by Gcinile Motha from Mayibuye. First runner-up was Mbali Buthelezi from Umthambeka and second runner-up was Gugulethu Moyo from Ivory Park.
Madia won a MSC Business College bursary as well as a one-year modelling contract.
She said: “Being Miss Ivory Park Refined is a blessing and a half. I feel so honoured to be the first-ever Miss Ivory Park Refined.
“This platform has granted me the opportunity to be a strong and assertive woman, despite having to embrace my beauty and kindness. The contest has opened my eyes to how beauty should be.
“Since I entered the pageant I thought to myself: Girl, this is the time you have been waiting for – for you to be an inspiration and role model.”
