Twenty-one people were injured this morning (Thursday) when a bakkie and light delivery vehicle collided on the R21 near the Olifantsfontein Road turn-off between Kempton Park and Centurion.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 6.45am to find the bakkie, light delivery vehicle and trailer in the middle of the highway, Russel Meiring, spokesman for ER24, said.

The passengers, that had been on the back of both vehicles, were walking around on the scene.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found 21 people had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries or fatalities,” Meiring added.

The patients were treated for their injuries and transported to various provincial hospitals.
