Driver left shaken after hit-and-run at Vlei Street
'I am truly saddened because this is not even my car'
ERIC Kruger of Norkem Park was left shaken on Wednesday morning after a Subaru Outback slammed into his daughter’s Golf 6 at the intersection of Pretoria Road and Vlei Street.
The hit-and-run driver fled the scene immediately and is still at large. However, he is without his vehicle as it was impounded by the police after being found abandoned not far from the accident scene.

The accident happened at 8.30am.
Kruger, who did not sustain any injuries, said the Subaru driver skipped the red light at the intersection and was speeding.
“I could not get the car’s registration because my car spun around from the impact,” Kruger said.
“I am truly saddened because this is not even my car. All I can do is tow it to my house,” Kruger added.
The Subaru was found abandoned on Ceylon Street in Glen Marais.
Although metro police officers searched the area for the driver, he got away. It was established the car had not been reported stolen.
EMPD’s Thabiso Makgatho said the car was impounded and the police opened a case of reckless and negligent driving.
“There will be further investigations by the police,” she said.
