Pet lovers brave the weather in aid of Kempton SPCA

The total amount raised on the day was R21 411

SUPPORTERS of the annual pub-to-pub walk braved the cold and wet weather to show their support and help raise funds for the Kempton Park SPCA on Saturday.

The walk started and finished at Harvesters Pub and Grill in Birchleigh.

“The event is in its seventh year and it is still going strong,” said Sandra Marriot, owner of Harvesters.

Sandra Marriott (right), one of the organisers of the pub-to-pub walk, and Adri van Reenen were happy to walk with the two Great Danes that grabbed the hearts of many during the event on Saturday.

“Though we are the organisers, there are three other pubs involved, namely Prime Time Sports Bar One, Prime Time Sports Bar Two and @ (Anteos) Bar.

“We walk from one pub to another, as the name suggests.”

Marriot told EXPRESS the aim is to raise awareness and funds for the SPCA, and they are always looking for more people to join in.

“We sponsored hampers, collected pet food and held an auction, among other things, all with the goal of assisting the SPCA as much as possible.

“It was a great turnout despite the rain, and we are truly grateful that people supported the initiative through this weather,” Marriot said.

“Thank you to the community and everyone for their support – it was fantastic.”

The total amount raised on the day was R21 411.
