Top Kempton SAPS officers honoured for their diligence
Members of the Kempton Park Station swapped their uniforms to dress up for the night.
MEMBERS of Kempton Park SAPS were honoured at Manna Lodge in Pomona for their outstanding diligence and for carrying out their duties excellently in 2017 on Friday during a year-end function,.
Among those recognised during the ceremony was Det Frans Rafapa, who was bestowed with two awards for being the best overall detective and the best member of the station.
Other members who collected their awards were W/O Shirley Cronje (best reservist), Lt Col Matome Masha (best member in the criminal investigative department) and Const Tinny Lehlomela for being the best relief officer.
Station Commander of Kempton Park Police Station, Brig Samuel Maredi, who was presenting the awards to the members, said the officers honoured were pillars of strength at the station.
Maredi said: “The management of Kempton Park Police Station recognises and rewards members of the station for their hard work and tireless efforts. The members who are being honoured here tonight are rewarded for the success and excellence that was achieved by our station.
“This is due to the fact that our officers have utmost passion and have experience that has been gained over the years.”
Maredi added that officers who were not nominated or did not win any award, must not despair. He said the ceremony must give them a sense of motivation.
He urged the police to continue in their efforts to fight crime, particularly during the festive season.
“Those who will be working during the festive season will do their best to ensure that the community of Kempton Park is safe.
“There are a lot of challenges during this time of the year and there are many activities everywhere, but as the police of this community, we should be wary of everything that is happening around us. Take care of yourselves and your family,” Maredi said.
The ceremony also honoured other members of the station who had contributed to fighting crime in these categories: Best Crime Prevention, Best Performing Sector Manager, Best Court Personnel, Best Dresser, Best Data Typist, Best General Crimes Member, Best Economic Member, Best Serious and Violent Crimes Members.
The ceremony also paid tribute to the fallen members of the station who had died during the past year.
