Traffic on Zuurfontein is badly backed up following a cash in transit heist near Kelvin Estate on Friday afternoon.
According to reports from the scene by Express journalist Puleng Sekabate shots were fired and two guards have been wounded. Both have been transported to hospital.
It is believed about 15 suspects, using three vehicles, were involved in the heist. They wore black clothing and balaclavas.
The vehicles used were two BMWs and a Toyota Hilux. The robbers got away with two bags of money.
Motorists are advised to avoid Zuurfontein Road.
