Homeless, one-legged man thrown into dumpster after robbery
As he could not get out, he slept among the rubbish for two nights
A homeless man with only one leg had to be rescued from a garbage skip after being thrown into it after being robbed.
Kempton Express received a call from a member of the public on Thursday morning, telling us about the man sitting in the dumpster.
When we arrived on the scene on Wolff Street in the central business district, we found Pieter sitting waist-high in rubbish, eating whatever he could find among the garbage.
He said he was robbed during the night of December 4. The robbers stole his pants and dumped him into the skip. As he has only one leg, he could not get out.
ER24 was called to take Pieter to a hospital.
Pieter told Express he covered himself with garbage for warmth during the rainy and cold weather. His family and his origin are not known.
An EMPD officer who helped rescue Pieter said because Pieter was exposed to bad weather conditions, he needed to be taken to hospital.
