Quiet festive season for Norkem Park SAPS

Station commander Col Tobie Strauss thanked everybody for their good behaviour.

The Norkem Park SAPS experienced a relatively peaceful festive season with no major incidents reported at the station, said Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for the station.

Between December 24 and January 1, the Norkem Park police arrested 21 people on various charges, including three people for drunk driving, two for shoplifting, two for intimidation, three for possession of suspected stolen property, one for theft, one for possession of counterfeit money, one for pointing a firearm, one for housebreak-in and theft, two for fraud, one for sexual assault and four for assault.

According to Molokomme, crimes that increased compared to the previous year were house robberies, assault in all categories, malicious damage to property and crimen injuria. Other crimes, including burglaries at houses and businesses, showed a decline.
