A retired policeman was found dead in his vehicle on the P91 (R25) near Esselen Park in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“Police were called to the scene after 2am where they found the man on the back seat of his vehicle,” said Lt Col Lungelo Dlamini, spokesperson for SAPS Gauteng.

“Preliminary investigations indicate he was strangled but we are still waiting for post-mortem results to confirm the actual cause of death.”
Although the deceased was found on the back seat, there were no other passengers. The car was neatly parked on the side of the road.
“He was found alone and the car keys were still inside the vehicle,” explained Dlamini.
“No arrests have been made and a case of murder is being investigated.”
A section of the road from Koedoe Street towards Esselen Park was closed to traffic for most of the morning, causing severe traffic delays.
