Ex-police officer found dead on P91 has been identified

No arrests have been made yet

A retired policeman, Maj Gen Thekiso Mogoerane, was found dead in his vehicle on the P91near Esselen Park in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.

“Police were called to the scene after 2am where they found Mogoerane in the back seat of his vehicle, a white Hyundai Accent,” said Lt Col Lungelo Dlamini, spokesperson for SAPS Gauteng.

“We suspect he was strangled but we are still waiting for the post mortem results to confirm the actual cause of death.”

Although Mogoerane was found in the back seat, there were no other passengers. The car was parked on the side of the road.

“Mogoerane was found alone and the car keys were still inside the vehicle,” explained Dlamini.

“No arrests have been made and a case of murder is being investigated.”

Mogoerane was an Ivory Park, Tembisa resident who worked at the Crime Intelligence National Office before he retired in May last year.
