An SUV hijacked in Birchleigh North on Wednesday was recovered within an hour, parked at Tembisa Hospital.
Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson, said two men, one armed with a handgun, hijacked a white Hyundai Tucson around 3pm.

“The victim immediately informed the metro police who were able to recover the vehicle in Tembisa.
“The members confined their search for the vehicle to Tembisa and their hunch paid off when the hijacked Hyundai Tucson, without a tracker, was located in Tembisa Hospital’s parking lot. It was found intact with no occupants,” Kgasago said.
Apparently the hijackers parked it at the hospital to either let it cool off or use the location to hide it temporarily. It was recovered at 4pm.
