Homeless man nabbed for teen’s murder

The police have been tracing the suspect until one of their informants tipped them off.

A homeless man (20) was arrested for an alleged murder at the weekend following the death of a teenager on January 21.

Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, said police received information from other homeless people on Saturday at 1.10am about the suspect’s whereabouts. He was arrested on Monument Road.

The suspect’s arrest followed the death of a 19-year-old man at a pub on Kempton Road.

“It is alleged that the suspect and other friends were at the pub on January 21 at about 2.35am when an argument took place. The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with a sharp instrument on the upper body,” Mtshali said.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.
