Stolen minibus recovered within two hours

The minibus was found abandoned but undamaged

A Toyota minibus stolen in Pretoria in the early hours of January 30 was recovered a few hours later in Kaalfontein’s Extension 22.

According to EMPD chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, at around 6.45am on January 30 the EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU) members were alerted by Cartrack (vehicle tracking company) about a Toyota minibus stolen in Mamelodi.

“With the GPS coordinates pointing out the movement of the stolen kombi, the metro police were able to track it down to Kaalfontein near Ivory Park.

Forty-five minutes after being alerted of the stolen vehicle, the CLU members and Cartrack personnel located the stolen kombi on Stern Crescent in Kaalfontein Ext 22.

The minibus was found abandoned but undamaged at 7.30am,” said Kgasago.

The recovered Toyota minibus was towed to SAPS Van Ryn impound in Benoni for further investigations and safe-keeping.
