A taxi owner of Kempton Park Taxi Association was shot and killed in his yard in Welamlambo Section in Tembisa on the morning of January 31.

Tembisa South SAPS spokesperson Capt Neldah Sekgobela said the 69-year-old taxi owner was shot by two unknown suspects.

“According to information given to the police, the deceased was reversing his silver Toyota Corolla out of his yard when he met his assassins, who were waiting for him next to his gate.

The deceased sustained multiple wounds on his upper body. It is alleged a white Toyota Tazz with an unknown registration number was seen driving away from the scene after the incident.

The deceased was declared dead on the scene by the paramedics. “No arrests have been made yet,” said Sekgobela.

The police are investigating a murder case and appeal to anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward.
