Man wounded on Monument Road on Saturday morning

The alleged shooting took place on a busy street at 10.55am.

A Glen Marais businessman was shot by an unknown number of suspects on Saturday morning around 11am.

The victim was at the corner of Monument and Anemoon roads when the incident happened. According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, the man was shot in his lower back.

People who were near the scene when the incident happened, recalled hearing more than one gunshot. Paramedics were already attending to his injuries when the police arrived on the scene. The man was taken to hospital.

The police are investigating cases of attempted murder and armed robbery.

Although the investigation is on-going, police appeal to anyone with information to call 086 001 0111 or SMS on 32211.
