Rhodesfield to become a school of specialisation in April
The school will be re-launched to focus on aviation, engineering, maths, and science.
Rhodesfield Technical High School will be one of the schools of specialisation to be launched by the Gauteng Department of Education this year.
The MEC for education, Panyaza Lesufi, made the announcement while addressing the media about learner placement on January 30.
Rhodesfield will be re-launched in April to focus on aviation, engineering, maths, and science.
Lesufi did not reveal the names of the other schools.
“We have concluded our partnership agreement with BMW.
“In terms of this agreement, BMW will take two learners on apprenticeship programmes and set up two mini training centres in two schools to be launched in May.
“These two schools will have an automotive focus.
“We will also launch two maths, science and technology schools of specialisation with a nuclear focus in April.
“The department has a memorandum of understanding with the Nuclear Energy Corporation of South Africa (Necsa) to support and develop the two schools.
“Two learners from one of the said schools will be going on a study tour to Russia in February.
Necsa has also offered two learnerships from the Grade 12 class of 2017,” Lesufi added.
