Three suspects arrested for two house robberies

Two of the suspects were arrested on January 25 in Extension Two, Ivory Park.

Ekurhuleni North Cluster Trio Task Team have arrested three men in connection with two house robberies during which property was taken at gunpoint and victims left traumatised.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS, communication officer Captain Bernard Matimulane, two of the suspects were arrested on January 25 in Extension Two, Ivory Park.

“The two suspects were pointed out by another suspect who was arrested on January 19 this year.

“The first suspect, Fungai Dube, 23, was nabbed by members of the Ivory Park SAPS on routine patrol after he was found in possession of two laptops, the origin of which he couldn’t say.

“Other items taken on the night of the robberies but not yet recovered are two plasma televisions and clothes belonging to the victims,” said Matimulane.

Matimulane added it later emerged that they were part of items robbed in Kaalfontein two nights before he was arrested.

“The three suspects have already been linked with two house robberies, and the possibility of further links with similar crimes cannot be ruled out.

“In the meantime, the team is working flat out to establish the link, if any, between the suspects and other similar crimes,” added Matimulane.

He said two of the suspects, aged 18 and 21, were expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on January 29.

“The arrest of this trio is good news for us as the Ivory Park SAPS.

“I am glad that the trio task team is working day and night trying to locate the outstanding two suspects alleged to be part of this robbery squad,” said Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, station commander at Ivory Park SAPS.
