Three fake doctors nabbed for illegal abortion

Tembisa South SAPS communication officer, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, said it was alleged that a 42-year-old lady visited the suspects’ place on Saturday for an abortion.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad arrested three men from Uganda in Moedi Section on February 7 after performing an illegal abortion on a woman on February 3.

Tembisa South SAPS communication officer, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, said it was alleged that a 42-year-old woman visited the suspects’ place for an abortion.

“After she got help, she went back home where she started to complain of stomach pains. The family members were shocked when they later realised she had an abortion. They took her to the hospital where she revealed to doctors that the Ugandan doctors performed an abortion on her,” added Sekgobela.

She added that the victim is at the hospital and in a critical condition.

The suspects are expected to appear in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to face charges of attempted murder and performing an illegal abortion.
