Four drug suspects busted at Kempton Park Hospital

The hospital closed its doors in 1996

Four suspects were arrested at the abandoned Kempton Park Hospital for possession of dagga and other substances on Friday.

The unidentified suspects, aged between 18 and 29, were seen by VRP Patrollers on duty at around 10.30pm and Norkem Park SAPS was called to the scene.

Birchleigh Neighbourhood Watch patrollers also assisted.

“The joined operation resulted in the four suspects’ arrest,” said Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson, Capt Lesibana Molokomme. “The exhibits will be taken to police forensics for tests.”

Molokomme appealed to the community to come forward with any information about crime happening in their areas. “The police will act swiftly,” he added.

The hospital closed its doors in 1996. Twenty-two-years later, patients and medical staff no longer wander its hallways. Instead, it is visited by vandals and, according to some, paranormal activity.

However, thanks to the work of local officers and patrollers, these drug possessors won’t be added to the list.
