Ekurhuleni North cluster succeeds in fighting crime

SAPS is working hard to ensure that crime is eliminated in the township.

SAPS in Ekurhuleni North Cluster arrested suspects for different offenses from Friday afternoon till Sunday morning.

Ekurhuleni North cluster communication officer Capt Neldah Sekgobela said 140 suspects were arrested in total.

Forty-seven suspects were found driving vehicles whilst under the influence of alcohol, 34 of which were arrested at Rabie Ridge SAPS.

“Nineteen suspects were arrested for possession of dagga, nine for drugs and 11 for shoplifting. Other suspects were arrested for cases such as theft, assault, malicious damage to property and burglaries residential,” said Sekgobela.

She said in another case in Ekurhuleni North cluster a baby estimated to be about one to two months old was abandoned in- between two shacks on the night of February 9 at Sam Molele Drive, Endulwini Section. The child was wrapped in blankets.

“The mother of the child is unknown since the residents nearby allege that they don’t know anything.

“The baby was taken to the hospital for further examination.”

Police is requesting anyone who might have information regarding the mother of the child to come forward.
