UPDATE: Edleen armed robbers flee with security officer’s firearm

By Monday no arrests have been made.

A security guard was robbed of his firearm when six armed robbers struck at Edleen Kwikspar on Friday evening.

Customers who were inside the store at the time of the robbery was robbed of their belongings, said Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.

According to him, an armed man entered the store at Edleen circle around 7pm. He went straight to one of the cashiers, pointed a firearm at the employee, ordering the person to hand over the money in the till.

“The victim, upon checking around, saw five more armed suspects,” Molokomme added.

Customers were robbed of their belongings and a security officer who responded was attacked by the robbers and his firearm was taken.

The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, customers’ property, the stolen firearm and cigarettes.

No one was injured during the incident. Molokomme on Monday said no arrests had been made.
