An 18-year-old young man from Winnie Mandela was arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
According to the Tembisa SAPS communications officer, Captain Manyadza Ralidzivha, a 42-year-old mother was looking for her daughter who did not come home.
“The woman went looking for her daughter at about 8pm. She met with her daughter’s friend who showed her the house where her daughter was. She went to the house, knocked on a bedroom door, and when she asked about her daughter, the 18-year-old young man told her that her daughter was inside the room. The suspect ran out of the room and disappeared into the darkness,” said Ralidzivha.
“The daughter alleged that the man had raped her. She further told her mother that it was not the first time. After raping her, he gave her money and told her not to tell anybody about the rape. The mother immediately informed the police,” added Ralidzivha.
A case of rape was opened at the Tembisa Police Station.
“The police traced the suspect and arrested him. He was detained at Tembisa SAPS. He is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on a charge of rape,” said Ralidzivha.
