Bread thieves’ plan turns to crumbs in Birch Acres

The accused bread thieves were spotted on CCTV cameras in the store

Two suspects were arrested for attempting to steal bread at Birch Acres Mall Spar over the weekend.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Capt Lesibana Molokomme the male suspects, aged 18 and 25, attempted to steel bread estimated to the value of R480.

“It is alleged that the two suspects had an agreement with each other – the ‘customer’ would visit the shop with a false receipt that claims 80 loaves of bread have already been paid for,” Molokomme said. It is believed the suspects planned to walk right past security.

However, the accused bread thieves were spotted on CCTV cameras in the store. The police were called to the scene and the culprits were apprehended.
