Men in white Quantum rob passengers at gunpoint

The suspicious Quantum is said to be operating around the Croydon and Tembisa area where passengers are collected and then robbed

Sebenza SAPS has issued a warning to residents to be on the lookout for a white Quantum with six males and one female, who are allegedly committing armed robberies.

The Quantum is said to be operating around the Croydon and Tembisa, as well as Croydon and Johannesburg route, where passengers are collected and then robbed of all their belongings at gun point.

According to Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso, six cases have been reported. One case includes 11 people.

“Once a number of passengers have been picked up, the suspects then rob them of everything at gun point and drop them off anywhere. Others have been dropped off in Brakpan, while some have been dropped off in Joburg and even Tembisa,” she explained.

Tsotsotso further pointed out that the vehicle did not have a registration number at the back.

“Commuters should be careful and not enter a Quantum comprising males only.”

The suspects operate between 6.30pm until around 8pm.

She encourages any victims who have been robbed in this manner to come forward and report the incident to the police.

A case of armed robbery and kidnapping is being investigated by police.

Road users are also requested to contact Sebenza SAPS on 011 400 6000 or 079 694 6324 if they notice this vehicle.
