Many parts of Kempton Park are still without power following the flooding of a substation earlier.
At around 6pm on Friday evening the City of Ekurhuleni said it was still attending to the problem and could not give a time when power would be restored.
Areas affected include parts of Esselen Park, Kaalfontein, ERWAT, Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Norkem Park and Glen Erasmia.
Power has apparently been off since 6am on Friday.
According to an earlier tweet by the metro repairs are taking longer than expected as access to high voltage overhead lines are hampered due to unstable ground because of the heavy rains.
