An alleged Birch Acres drug dealer was arrested on Thursday morning, thanks to the vigilance of a community member.
Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for the Norkem Park SAPS, told Express the metro police received information from a citizen about possible drug dealing at a house on Wewer Street.
“When officers arrived at the house, they found a male suspect (35) claiming to be the owner of the house. He gave permission for his house to be searched,” Molokomme said.
Five plastic bags filled with a white substance, suspected to be Cat, were found in his bedroom.
According to Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson, Cat valued at almost R100 000 was uncovered.
He said EMPD K9 unit members hit at the house around 10am at discovered the Cat weighing 463,3 grams. One male suspect from Nigerian origin was arrested.
The station commander of Norkem Park SAPS, Col Tobias Strauss, applauded the resident who came forward with the information. He also thanked the metro police officers who acted swiftly on the tip-off.
The police urge anyone who has information about criminal activities to come forward by contacting the police on 086 001 0111 or 10111.
The suspect was charged with possession and dealing in drugs.
