EMPD recovers stolen Quantum in Isando

The vehicle was found abandoned with its keys still in the ignition.

A company vehicle taken during a business robbery in Isando was found abandoned only hours after the incident.

According to Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the metro police, the robbery took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The perpetrators fled in the company’s Toyota Quantum, which the EMPD recovered around 9am the same morning.

With the assistance of the Edleen Precinct Commander, EMPD members came across the stolen Quantum on Foundry Street in Isando.

“The vehicle was found abandoned with its keys still in the ignition but with a badly damaged dashboard. The thieves were apparently trying to locate the tracking unit to remove it so the vehicle would not traceable,” Kgasago said.
