Stolen cellphones worth R850 000 found in Kempton CBD after robbery

Benoni Flying Squad arrested a foreign national for possession of the 175 cellphones.

Stolen cellphones valued at R850 000 were found on Long Street by the Benoni Flying Squad on Saturday.

According to W/O Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the Benoni Flying Squad, the cellphones were taken during a robbery at Lyttleton Shopping Centre the same day.

At the Long Street premises, they arrested a foreign national for possession of the 175 cellphones. An illegal signal jamming device was also found on the scene, which is used in attempts to foil tracking devices.
