Birchleigh ‘cable thieves’ caught red-handed

The two suspects were stripping wires at the vacant house

Two alleged Birchleigh cable thieves got the shock of their lives when they were caught red-handed on Monday evening.

According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the two suspects, aged 22 and 31, were spotted jumping over the wall of a vacant house on Ysterhout Street. Community members reported the incident to patrollers, who acted swiftly.

“The two suspects, who were stripping wires at the vacant house, were arrested by patrollers, MML Security and Cops Security,” Molokomme told Express.

Norkem Parks SAPS were called to the scene to detain the suspects.
