The DA in Ekurhuleni has welcomed the recent visible policing operation in Kempton Park.
The police, together with the neighbourhood watch and some security companies in Kempton Park, joined forces to fight against crime on April 21.
Ward councillor Jaco Terblanche said: “This operation was a true indication and reflection of the fruits of partnership and joint problem solving between the community and police. When communities and law enforcement agencies work hand-in-hand, crime can certainly be reduced.”
During the operation, members of the police had an opportunity to impart knowledge by training security companies on the protocols of security patrolling. The security companies were also given tips on what to observe and what to look out for when they are on patrol.
“This operation has given the community great hope. We hope that this is the beginning of a new journey. A journey where the police in Kempton Park will seriously fight against crime and continuously strive to provide a safe and non-violent environment for residents.
“The DA hopes that this operation was not only a once-off occurrence but will continue on a regular basis. The DA in Ekurhuleni salutes each and every police member, CPF patroller, security officer, neighbourhood watch member and all the volunteers for their contribution in making Kempton Park a safe town. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed,” Terblanche added.
