The mother confronted the suspect about the allegations but the father became very aggressive.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on May 7 for the rape of his daughter.

Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the mother of a 12-year-old girl had gone to Mozambique, leaving the children with their father in the Winnie Mandela Informal Settlement.

“When she came back on May 1 she found her daughter at home.

“The mother asked her daughter to accompany her to the toilet.

“The daughter told her that while she was away her father called her to his bed.

“He told her to sleep in the bed with him

“Later he started to touch her. He overpowered her and raped her,” said Ralidzhivha.

He said the mother confronted the suspect about the allegations but the father became very aggressive.

“She laid a charge of rape with the Tembisa police.

“On May 7 police traced and found him.

“He was arrested for the rape of his daughter.

“He was expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court,” said Ralidzhivha.
