A Suzuki motorcycle stolen during a housebreak-in in Edleen on Tuesday, was found abandoned in a veld near Barnard Stadium the same day.
Ekurhuleni Metro Police discovered the bike around 6am, metro police spokesperson, Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, said.
He said the break-in occurred in the early hours of the morning.
“EMPD Equestrian Unit members were able to locate the stolen bike hidden in the bushes near Barnard Stadium. The carriage in which the bike was kept was broken into and the chain securing the bike broken.
“Just after 6am the EMPD received GPS coordinates of the stolen bike from Matrix. Immediately, the metro police jumped into action and the location of the bike, according to the coordinates, pointed to a bushy area near Barnard Stadium where the bike was found, apparently hidden to be collected later,” Kgasago added.
The recovered motorbike was taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni after registering a case at Kempton Park Police Station.
