Kanana man nabbed stealing kettle at cop shop

The suspect was in possession of an electric kettle inside a plastic bag

A man was arrested for stealing a kettle at Tembisa South Police Station’s kitchen on May 7.

Tembisa South SAPS communications officer Capt Neldah Sekgobela said the man from Kanana informal settlement was caught when a captain of the station went to the station’s kitchen to get a drink of water.

“When the captain arrived, the door was closed. He opened it, only to find an unknown man who looked confused.

“The suspect was in possession of an electric kettle inside a plastic bag which was covered with his jersey,” said Sekgobela.

Sekgobela added that on further investigation the captain discovered the kettle belonged to the station.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the cells and he appeared in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on May 8 to face a charge of theft.
